We are now closing in on the release of Hogwarts Legacy, one of the most anticipated games of the year. However, PC players believe they are being mistreated for no apparent reason and they are absolutely right.
In a post on Reddit by a user called “SwiftArtery”, he has pointed out several unfair points on why PC players are being given less for essentially the same amount of money. Firstly, in the game, players will not be able to get the Felix Felicis potion recipe, which is down as an exclusive for PlayStation. For those unsure, the recipe and potion will be used to make a player lucky for a period of time.
In another point, he explains how PlayStation will also get the exclusive Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest which was revealed in a YouTube video. We will be getting this quest a year after PlayStation, so it’s not all terrible however it’s still content we, as players, will be missing out on. You can see this below:
Now, onto the points which PC players appear to be the most frustrated about. Prior to release, games usually allow you to pre-load the game in preparation of playing. This is a great feature as it’s a way of being able to download the entire game before it’s released and then when it does finally release, you can just hop straight in. PC players WILL NOT be able to pre-load the game and what makes matters worse is that the game is rumored to be 85GB, so it’s not exactly going to be a quick download, especially for those with slower speeds. Even if it releases at 50 – 60, that is still going to take time to download.
Finally, we will not be getting the game the same time as consoles. In the post, the user says, “Later access times (e.g. 6pm here in the UK, 18 hours + download after the midnight release for consoles) – and I’m aware it’s even worse for some people!”. This will mean not only will PC players have to wait to download but we will not get the game at the same time as everyone else. This is disgraceful as this will mean it’s possible spoilers for the game will already be out there, while we haven’t even been able to download or play the game.
It appears this also becomes a problem with the 3-day early access promised by WB Games for pre-ordering the deluxe edition as we will not be getting the game at the same time as console players due to issues with pre-loading. Although players are frustrated overall, the pre-load feature not being available to PC is the thing which appears to be getting brought up the most and several players have already Tweeted WB Games with their dissatisfaction at this exclusion.

Buy a Playstation 5.
Nobody with a good gaming PC has any reason to buy a console. We get all the games console players get and by waiting a little bit we get them cheaper. I’ve also found out after playing God of War, Days Gone, Uncharted, and Horizon on PC that the quality of PS “exclusives” have been exaggerated. The only game of those I thought was really good was God of War. Uncharted was okay, but I didn’t think it was as good as the last three Tomb Raider, Horizon’s story was pretty crap and the game got boring about a third of the way through, and Days Gone was just flat out bad. I’m considering the Last of Us when it comes out in March, but after watching a few of the opening hours the story is so stupid I’m not sure I could take it. My favorite part is when Joel and his partner go to find a guy and along the way they kill about 20-30 of his workers (and presumably friends, possibly family) and when they get to him, he takes a shot at the door. Joel actually yells out something like “WHOA! What are you doing? We’re just here to talk” with the blood soaked warehouse behind him. Even dumber, the guy relents, talks to them and of course they kill him. So dumb. So no, PC users will be just fine. I never buy anything at full price on release day anyway. I’m happy to wait for a good sale and let console players beta test and fund DLC for a year for me.
Does anyone really give a damn about this? It’s been common practice for years.
Agreed. I’ll wait for the GOTY edition on Steam with all the DLC and a year of beta testing for half the price.
Tell that to this commenter in the source thread, yikes

Wow, must be a slow news day for this “outrage” to be deemed worthy of a written article. The PlayStation exclusive stuff is somehow being taken personally to PC players when Nintendo and Microsoft purchasers are also not receiving this content… where’s the rage from them? And these preloading issues are not new information, and won’t be issues at all after the next few days. Seems like someone was in dire need of Reddit Internet Points and they concocted this “controversy.” Comments in the original reddit thread go so far as to when people point out these practices are not new and the commenter compare this digital content exclusivity to slavery… yeah, actual human slavery… “well so just because it’s always been that way you’re not going to question it?”
😮💨🥴🙄 the internet was a mistake
