In the past couple of days, we were made aware of the huge layoffs from Xbox, which would cause 1/3 of the 343 Industries team to unfortunately have to leave their position, as reported by a particular source. During this, a rumour surfaced which said that 343 Industries would be taken off Halo development and instead just oversee the game.
Just today, @Halo, the official twitter account, has released a statement below:
The statement confirms that 343 Industries will continue to develop Halo and the rumours were therefore squashed. The question, though, is whether this is a good idea for the franchise as a whole after backlash for their previous title, Halo Infinite. The game surprisingly did exceptionally well with sales however players have been frustrated with 343 Industries and their poor communication with the community. This includes slow updates and cancelled DLCs. It’s likely hits to their workforce will also not help in regards to the communities concerns.
